While its instrumental version is simply known as “The Godfather Theme”, “Speak Softly Love” is the vocal version. The words are by Larry Kusik with music by Nino Rota. Originally sung by Andy Williams, other artists, such as Bobby Vinton, have also recorded the song. Slash of Velvet Revolver (formerly of Guns N’ Roses) had also performed it in a hard rock style. Slash’s version contains backing chords from Izzy Stradlin, bass from Duff McKagan, piano from Axl Rose and has a solo in the beginning. Many versions recorded all over the world are also popular. There are multiple arrangements of the theme for large and small orchestras, bands, and even ethnic instrument groups. Also, there are solo versions arranged for the most popular instruments. Good guitar arrangements are among the best, since the music allows guitar players to use the rich expressive features that the instrument offers.www.TotallyGuitars.com – Complete Free Lessons – Community – Chat Room – Forum – Your Own Blog – Recommend A Lesson – Membership is free http join now!

Am I paying too much for lessons?

I am taking vocal lessons in a suburb of Los Angeles and paying per 30 minute lesson (0 a month).

    Here is my coach’s bio:

she began her musical training at the age of four and began performing at age six. Always involved in live acts growing up, she trained informally with both of her parents in songwriting, piano playing and singing. She was formally trained at Western Michigan University in the country’s leading vocal jazz program and at Goshen College, where her mother was part of the music department.

Her formal singing career began Chicago when she was discovered by Pete Cosey, guitar player for Aretha Franklin and Miles Davis, who produced her first demo. In the mid 1990′s, She moved to Los Angeles and began intensive training with Platinum songwriter, Harriet Schock, and formed her own rhythm and blues band with doo-wop legend, Buzz Clifford. The collaboration of Montgomery and Clifford resulted in the release of her debut album, Lyin’ in the Face of Love, which garnered critical acclaim and attracted the attention of Grammy Winner, Shelby Lynne.

After seeing her perform at a West Hollywood club, Lynne invited her to join her band and go on the road in support of her album, Identity Crisis. She became Lynne’s back-up singer as well opening act for the entire National Tour. Lynne began producing demos of her original work in her home studio.

She was presented with a Los Angeles Music Award for Best Adult Contemporary Artist on stage at the House of Blues in West Hollywood on the West Coast leg of the Shelby Lynne tour.

        Guitar Help………………..?

        Hi,

I’m an 18 year old upcoming guitarist.
I don’t know much yet, and I’m slightly overwhelmed by how much there is to know about guitar.
But I’m eager to learn, and ready to be an excellent guitarist.

So far I know all the open chords, many barre chords, Pentatonic/Blues scale, Major scale, and I’m probably forgetting a few other things.
I’m starting to get the hang of the Dorian and Myxolydian modes, but I’m not quite comfortable with them yet.

But knowing that, What should I do to improve my playing? What types of things should I practice? How should I practice?

        P.S.
I can’t read sheet music (but hope to in the future).
And I can no longer afford private lessons.

        P.P.S.
I really like all types of music (except country), and I love to record cool chord progressions and then improvise over them (especially blues stuff).

        P.P.P.S.
Many of my heroes are from the ’60s and ’70s like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton (and Cream), The Who, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, etc.

But I also enjoy music from every era. Strangely enough, many of the modern artists I like are more singer/songwriters rather than guitarists (like Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Justin Nozuka, Donavon Frankenreiter, G. Love, Eric Hutchinson, Colbie Callait, etc)

What kind of music would you recommend me to play??

*I also write my own songs and lyrics already (not the greatest, but it’s fun)* hahaha
        Sorry it’s so long.
Basically, I just want tips on how to be a better musician.

          Favorite guitar riffs?

What are some of your favorite lines from songs? to me, they’re kind of like quotes, but of a more poetic sense.
I think one of mine is:
"Bid my blood to run" – Bring me to life by evanescence

As far as riffs go, I can’t really pick ONE that is my fav. but I love the intro of
Kiss the Flag by Evans Blue.

How much should I charge to give guitar lessons?

I am a high school student and I have been playing the guitar for about a year and I am pretty good at it. My neighbors down the street want to know how much I will charge to give their daughter lessons. I have never had lessons myself, but I know alot from online videos, music books, ect. And how long should they be for?
