Ive been taking piano lessons for 4 years now, and i barely can play any level 2 songs and its starting to piss me off, it takes me almost a month to pass a song since I never practice and I learn faster by watching youtube tutorial videos. Im kinda poor so my parents by me really cheap piano books that have classical/country crap in it that no one listens to. Ive been begging my mom to quit and she finally said I can quit if I want, but that would mean I wasted money on a piano for no reason and I wasted 4 years worth of piano lesson and cash.
There are some songs I want to play on the piano but most of them are too hard to learn from just watching youtube(since i can’t afford music sheet)

I was wondering if guitar is more intresting since i like rock/metal/screamo and all that, but I don’t know if ill practice or not
Im not really good at learning stuff.(Took Spanish and failed)(I am chinese and ive been going to chinese school for 5 years and still can’t read or write anything)

Should I get guitar lessons or teach myself?

I am 14 years old and a freshman in high school. I have lots of musical experience playing the piano and trombone, so musical stuff is not an issue with me. I am now interested in learning guitar, and will be getting my own electric guitar for christmas. Should I teach myself at home with one of those learn guitar books? I have friends who have been playing the guitar for a long time, and my dad plays classical guitars. Or should I get lessons so that an instructor can tell me what I’m doing right and wrong. The problem with this option is that I already have a busy schedual.

My other question if anybody has an opinion, should I get the epiphone les paul standard plain top, or fender mexican strat? I have a friend that has an epiphone, and I loved it, but would the strat be a better choice for a beginner. I know its a little cheaper, but does it play any different?

By the way I will be playing mostly rock music. (Classic rock, hard rock, blues rock, not metal)

              Any help is appreciated.

                  Beginning guitar lesson plan?

I just got hired to give guitar lessons to a 1st grade girl and i want to know how I should structure my lessons for her. I’m not going to teach out of a book, what i’ve planned is:

                  -Parts of the guitar
-Names of strings and corresponding tunings
                  -How to use a tuner
                  -How to read tab music
                  -Basic open chords (G,C,D,A,Am,E,Em)

after that, i’m planning on letting her pick out music and teaching her tricks along the way. Do you think this is a decent plan for starting guitar lessons? i would also like to know if i should get her doing finger exercises on the guitar to build finger strength before we get to bar chords.
It’s my first time teaching so i’m sort of a fish out of water, any/all advice will be greatly appreciated!

lastly how much is standard pay in $/hour, i probably also have to take into account that i’m not an experienced teacher.

I’m 15 and teachers, other parents, and adults say I am very mature. Every morning, I go to school about an hour earlier because I’m a TA. During summer, I work in my Aunt’s office as her TA. I also dance at the local studio, sing, play the flute, piano, and guitar. I love anything in the arts. I complete all my chores in a reasonable time with no one badgering me and babysit my little sister until my mom and dad get home from work. I rarely ask them for anything personal because I don’t believe in spending my parent’s hard earned money on non-important things.

My parents think I want a boyfriend for sex. Which I can full understand because the statistics for HIV/AIDS and teenage pregnancies have probably doubled, if not tripled in the this generation. However, that is in no way true. For one, I wear a purity ring and cross necklace to symbolize that I am very faithful to God. Not some random guy in the streets. My main reason is to have someone other than my friends and family to care for. My friends think having a boyfriend steps them above every girl that doesn’t and the boys make them feel wanted. To me, those aren’t good enough reasons and their selfish ones at that. Yes, a boyfriend should make you feel wanted and loved, but to a certain extent. You have to love yourself before you can love anybody else. That’s a lesson that my friends obviously have not learned. I want a guy that my father cannot say no to. And I know there are a few mature ones at my school. I just have to find them. And I’m not looking right now until I have the go ahead to date. I don’t want to break my parent’s trust because I’m always going to need them.

How can I respectively inform my parents on my wanting to date? I would appreciate if no one says I am too young because everyone has a different time when they are ready. Also any tips on where to find the good guys? Is there a way to ease their mind on the whole sex thing?
