Im going to learn how to play the guitar. I was thinking of learning from a book. Did you learn from book, was it easy to learn? Or lessons?

If you know how to read sheet music before you start then I suggest you spend a few weeks practicing before you start with the lessons.
If you cannot read the sheet music then do the lessons first. The instructor will give you hints on how to read the music.
A few lessons will let you know whether you are adept to guitars or be better off with drums.
It might be easy to learn but it causes callouses on your finger tips. The guitar plucker is a bit hard to handle. Practice makes perfect.
PS – Local guitar shops and music shops, also some
mod-cafes, and Universities and Colleges etc have notice boards advertisng teachers, bands, musos etc.. A good way to get a teacher and also into a band if you want. Rates are about $50 an hour but worth the money spent.
it really just depends what type of learner you are (do you learn better by reading or hearing a lecture)
In my opinion it really helps to to have a teacher when you are learning to play an instrument because they can tell you when you aren’t getting a not quite right and help you fix the error. i think books are good but not for someone just starting out
Well if you look at the cost of lessons it will be pretty pricy. If you want to save money go with the book.
If you care about how easy and simple it will be go with the lessons.
Because if you don’t understand something in the book you can’t talk to it(unless you are an alien from outer-space) anyway i would pay extra to get lessons. You will learn a lot better and faster that way.
But it’s not me making the decision it’s you.
So good luck on whatever you choose.
I’ve learned from books (and the DVDs that come with them), taking lessons, and videos from YouTube.
I suggest getting a book first.
both. no skill worth having is ever easy. there never was and never will be a substitute for a human teacher whatever the situation..
when is the last time a book patted you on the back for doing a good job???
I learnt alot from books, practicing @ 3 hours a day
& some from other lead guitarists later
Muych from watching good players
