Guitar lesson to teach children and kids learning guitar how to hold a pick. Starting with good fundamentals is important for playing any musical instrument and having to unlearn bad habits is exceptionally frustrating, especially for kids. At the end, he demonstrates a few chords from the AC/DC song TNT. If your child is interested in playing guitar, I have a few suggestions based on both personal experience and expert opinions: 1) Don’t get him or her a guitar until 6 years of age. Prior to age 6, 99.9% of kids don’t have enough finger and hand strength to make much progress. 2) Get a decent electric guitar first for children under 10 years of age, because it will be MUCH easier to play. Most people get their children an acoustic guitar, and then the child gets frustrated, can’t do it, and he or she quits because a lot practice time for many months is required to become proficient on an inexpensive acoustic guitar. An acoustic guitar is just too much time and effort to produce so little reward for most 6 to 9 years olds. A budget 3/4 scale guitar from a major company like Ibanez or Fender is most likley the best choice. They don’t cost much when you consider all the factors involved, and you can get it bundled with a small amplifier if that is what you want. If you can find an Ibanez Mikro 3/4 scale or Fender Squire 3/4 scale for less than a new one, you should buy it. 3) Take the new or used electric guitar to a guitar repair shop and get a “setup.” It will make the …

Bestselling apps now free: bit.ly Lesson 9: How to Tune a Guitar ——————————————————————— It’s a fact that if your guitar isn’t in tune, it won’t sound nearly as good as if it were in tune. That’s why Thomas will teach you how to successfully tune your guitar in standard tuning with only the use of your ears! How to Tune a Guitar ——————————————————————— The key to tuning your guitar properly is first understanding when a string is sharp and when a string is flat. Take the A string for example: * Using your low E string (6th string) as a reference pitch, play the 5th fret on the E string and the open A string. If the A string sounds higher than the 5th fret of the E string, the A string is sharp and therefore needs to be lowered. To do this, take your right hand (left if you’re left handed) and reach over to the machine head for the A string and turn it counter clockwise to lower the pitch. If the A string sounds lower than the 5th fret of the E string, the A string is flat and therefore needs to be raised. To do this, turn the machine head for the A string clockwise to raise the pitch. Now, apply these same concepts to the rest of the strings: * Play the 5th fret on the A string and adjust the open D string * Play the 5th fret on the D string and adjust the open G string * Play the 4th fret on the G string and adjust the open B string * * This is the only case where you tune a …
