You will get the right sound in that tuning…
thanks for helping but that wasn’t the problem. I did figure it out though. I feel like an idiot. I was pressing down on the strings.

AHH where is part two
Make sure youre right over top of the fret and hit nice and hard and it’ll come out nice with some practice
what you have to do is put a finger (i do it with my ring finger) very lightly ON the fret, the place where the fret wire is. You’ll get a perfect sound.
If you still dont get a perfect sound, then i think that your guitar is not correctly tuned to the open E tuning. Try re-tuning it.
Is he playing a 12 string guitar that is strung with only 6 strings?
as soon as you hit all the strings take your finger off and let the string ring. hope that helps

Nice Lesson. Straight to the point and lots of energy! Ravi – He is playing a 12 string with 6 strings on it because the open E tuning is higher than normal and creates lots of tension on the neck and body of the guitar. The 12 String guitar can handle the extra tension
